Take a Trip Change a Life began with one trip that changed a life forever.

In 2010, Sixcia traveled to the Dominican Republic, her ancestral homeland, with her mother and 4-year old son. It was Christmas time, so they brought some gifts for the local children. Witnessing her young son's random act of kindness - offering a teddy bear to a Domincan boy - triggered a life-changing shift within her. Through the beautiful smile on the face of the little boy, the stark contrast between her materially abundant yet spiritually empty life was exposed. As she absorbed this scene of generosity and genuine connection, she realized this wasn't just a sightseeing trip. The seeds were being planted for a new path. One that would lead Sixcia toward a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment. Shortly after this trip, she launched the nonprofit organization, Caritas Smile, to support the women and children of the Dominican Republic. She started offering trips there so others could experience the transformative power of service and since then, has witnessed thousands of lives transformed through the power of kindness and generosity.

Sixcia and Corissa met during their days working for Constant Contact and grew in friendship and camaraderie while working for Google. They’ve shared in the hustle of those environments and have also connected on a deeper, more spiritual level. They’ve come together to create a new iteration of Take a Trip Change a Life in partnership with Caritas Smile. They leaned into their passions for servant leadership, wellness and adventure to create transformative programs in countries all over the world. Their vision is to transform the lives of millions through travel and servant leadership connecting us all more deeply to our humanity.
